Desay SV to Support Automakers with Cutting-Edge Technologies, Including LTE-V2X, to Support Improvements in Road Safety, Traffic Efficiency and Autonomy

Shanghai: 6th November 2018: Desay SV announced today the development of an LTE Vehicle-to-Everything (LTE-V2X) solution for automakers based on the Qualcomm® 9150 C-V2X chipset solution from Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated. Also known across the globe as C-V2X, LTE-V2X is based on globally adopted specifications defined by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Release 14 specifications for direct communications, supporting vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V), vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I), and vehicle-to-pedestrian (V2P) communications for improved road safety, traffic efficiency improvement, and support for automated driving with intention sharing and cooperative driving. LTE-V2X direct communication operates in the newly allocated 5.9GHz ITS spectrum in China and functions without the involvement of the cellular network or mobile subscription. LTE-V2X direct communication also complements other services enabled by the cellular network connectivity (vehicle-to-network or V2N) for telematics, connected infotainment, and other V2N2V and V2N2I information services which deliver messages to drivers and passengers, as well as premium in-vehicle entertainment experiences.

Desay SV’s new solution, based on the Qualcomm 9150 C-V2X chipset solution, as well as Desay SV’s software and hardware platforms for onboard units (OBUs), which are integrated with China Automotive Engineering Society  (CSAE) ITS software, supports V2V scenarios such as Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Intersection Movement Assist (IMA), V2I scenarios such as Speed Limit Warning (SLW) and Signal Phase & Timing (SPaT) and V2P scenarios such as Vulnerable Road User Collision Warning (VRUCW) to enhance the capabilities of the intelligent connected car era.

V2X has evolved from an initial radio technology dating to 1999 to the modern LTE-V2X radio solution which was specified by 3GPP in 2017, and has delivered improved performance and higher reliability results for safety critical messages. Desay SV has several years of experience working with the IEEE 802.11p-based solution known as Dedicated Short-Range Communication (DSRC) and is now one of several companies supporting the introduction of LTE-V2X leveraging prior platform experiences and investments to offer a comprehensive solution, therefore accelerating time-to-market with solutions leveraging this better performing radio.

Working with Qualcomm Technologies on telematics for many years, the evolution towards LTE-V2X ensures the synergy of network and direct communications will be streamlined in Desay SV offerings, and will continue to evolve as 3GPP approves new specifications for 5G NR.

Duan Yongzheng, Senior Vice President of Desay SV, said:
Desay SV has been deploying V2X technology since 2017 and publicly exhibited V2V and V2I scenarios in live demonstrations utilizing this technology with vehicles Aiming to enhance and support roadside safety and the efficiency of connected vehicles, Desay SV has been developing LTE-V2X solutions utilizing the Qualcomm 9150 C-V2X chipset solution, as well as leveraging Desay SV’s software and hardware development and integration capabilities, Desay SV will be able to achieve this.  Desay SV is now offering a platform using the Qualcomm 9150 C-V2X chipset and will offer more solutions in collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies’ chipset roadmap.

“Qualcomm Technologies is pleased to see the traction continue to advance for LTE-V2X in China as it represents another step forward toward commercial deployment,” said Nakul Duggal, vice president of product management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.  “Creating a safer and more efficient vehicle landscape in this region is essential, and we are excited to extend our long-standing relationship with Desay SV to continue building and deploying cutting-edge technologies to accomplish this goal, and support connected vehicles.”
